Multimedia In the Classroom

This week we were tasked with creating a video blog.  I enjoyed learning about multimedia in the classroom and the effectiveness of delivering lessons using it.  Multimedia is a powerful tool with endless potential to reach a wide variety of learners.

  1. Catherine, I think you provide a lot of insight to the benefits of multimedia use in the classroom. I really identified with your point that it increases student exposure. I teach in a district that is extremely isolated in south-eastern Montana. This year, we have spent a lot of time focusing on the Amazon, and have used many videos to supplement learning. My students bring up facts that they have learned on a regular basis and are very enthusiastic about discussion, and I attribute this in large part to the videos that have allowed us to ‘visit’ the rainforest. I also like that you mention it is easy to get carried away with videos and forget about objectives. This is also true. If a teacher uses video just for the sake of using video, it is nothing more than wasted learning time. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, well done on the video!
